The overall objective of the research group is to include all clinical research on growth, physical and mental health and social outcome of children with risks of deviant development, and to assess effects of risk factors. Research areas are short- and long-term outcome of exposures related to fetal and neonatal life, childhood diseases, growth and development, including overweight and other deviant weight. Research methods include follow-up of cohorts, interventions and register based studies.

The group cooperates closely with the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescents Medicine at Haukeland University Hospital, other hospitals within The Western Norway Regional Health Authority and elsewhere in Norway, with other departments and faculties at University of Bergen, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), and other research institutions nationally and internationally. The coordinator of the group is Professor Gottfried Greve.
