The PGI-seminar focuses on politics and governance in a broader context than the classical concept of institutions. We connect mechanisms and systems (governance) to regulation, networks and different roles and positions (both from a citizen perspective and a market perspective).
In the last decade we have registered profound changes in governance and how we think of politics, governance, regulation and innovation. Politics are designed and implemented in complex governance systems that consist of both private, market based and public actors on a local, national and international level.
Many types of governance are emerging at the intersection between market, citizens and political institutions. This is causing political governing projects to arise in new areas and with new mechanisms - for example via markets - so that regulatory politics, corporate social responsibility and politicized consumption become important control elements. In the last couple of years, our research group has focused on the new governance challenges related to climate, energy, security and the environment.
Topics, articles, doctoral work, etc. are developed in the various research projects, and are discussed at the seminars. At the same tie, the seminar is an arena for the processing of master's theses within the PGI-field. That is, both drafts of the paper in AORG322 (research field) and the paper in AORG323 (research design) and drafts of dissertation chapters. The workshop invites new students who wish to enter bachelor's or master's theses in the field. The seminar is also an arena for an overall discussion of the theory and methods within the PGI-field.
