The Effect of Circadian Rhythms on BOLD Dynamics and Effective Connectivity

Main content

In my master’s project, I will investigate the impact of sleep and circadian rhythm on resting state functional connectivity networks in the brain. Specifically, with the focus on investigating circadian fluctuation of default mode network (DMN) and extrinsic mode network (EMN) activity. Methods applied in the study include resting state fMRI, actigraphy and questionnaires regarding sleep. The purpose of the study is to determine if DMN and EMN fluctuate on a circadian basis and if there is an interacting pattern between the two.

This master’s project is part of the project: “When default is not default: Solutions to the replication crisis and beyond”.
