PhD Course in Tax Law 2025

For the third time, the Tax Law Research Group is organizing a PhD course for doctoral candidates working on tax-related topics. This time, the course will take place on 28–29 October 2025 at the beautiful Solstrand Hotel & Bad, just outside Bergen.

Main content

Participants will have the opportunity to discuss a range of key challenges related to writing a PhD thesis in tax law. Topics include how to strike a productive balance between contributing to theoretical development and the formulation of new legal principles, while also producing research of practical relevance to legal practitioners. The course will also address the use of comparative studies, legal history, and economic theory in tax law research.

Doctoral candidates will furthermore have ample opportunity to present their own research projects and receive academic feedback.

The course is open to PhD students in tax law from around the world. Lecturers will represent several leading institutions, including Oxford University, University of Tübingen, Örebro University, University of Oslo, Norwegian School of Economics, Copenhagen Business School – and, of course, the University of Bergen.
