The European Commission considers mobility between organisations as an asset for the personal and career development of researchers. It allows the enhancement of collaboration, and the acquisition of new skills and knowledge which contribute to increased creativity, efficacy and performance.

Please note that the MSCA mobility rules do not necessarily relate to the location(s) stated in the current or previous employment contract(s) of the researcher. It is the actual location(s) of residence that are taken into account, not the country(ies) of legal residence. The two determining elements are the actual physical place of residence and place of main activity.

Some of the SEAS postdoctoral research fellow positions at UiB are open to either incoming or outgoing candidates, while others will be restricted to either only incoming or outgoing candidates.

In both fellowship types, in order to be eligible, you must not have resided or carried out your main activity (work, studies, research etc.) in the country of the host organisation for more than 12 months in the last 3 years immediately prior to the Call deadline.

Mobility rule for SEAS incoming fellowships

Applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (e.g., studies, work, research) in Norway for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the call deadline. Successful applicants must move to Norway by the time of employment.

Mobility rule for SEAS outgoing fellowships

Applicants must have resided or carried out their main activity in Norway for at least 24 months prior to the call deadline and must specify the outgoing host institution (from UiB’s partner institutions or any other academic organisation in any country).

Outgoing fellows must not have resided or carried out their main activity (e.g., studies, work, research) in the country of the host organisation for more than 12 months in the last 3 years immediately prior to the Call deadline.

If the successful candidate is an outgoing fellow, there is a mandatory return period of 12-18 months at UiB.
