Rector Sigmund Grønmo was re-elected as rector and Berit Rokne was elected as deputy rector.

At the faculty level, it was decided in February 2009 to introduce a standard system of elected deans with an extended mandate, with the possibility of introducing trial schemes with an appointed dean and a united leadership.

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry now have trial schemes with appointed deans.

At the department level, the faculties can decide whether to elect or appoint heads of departments.
