With a budget of NOK 200 million over eight years, the Centre is to carry out research into the salmon louse. An important objective of the research is to help to reduce the time between research and the development of practical products.

The Centre has been given the status of Centre for Research-based Innovation (SFI).  In addition to several partnership companies, its research partners include the Institute of Marine Research and the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science. Professor of Biology Frank Nilsen is to run the centre.
