The Department of Comparative Politics has organised a symposium on Rokkan-related issues in contemporary Political Science. Organizers Yvette Peters and Michaël Tatham focus on representational and policy-making challenges in multi-jurisdictional polities. Michaël Tatham says that the symposium is intended as a complement to the Stein Rokkan Memorial Lecture, and takes place in Bergen on September 20th and 21st.
The symposium is divided in three parts:
- Part I on European integration, the EU, and Governance
- Part II on Policy-Making, Responsiveness, and Representation
- Part III on The Structure of Government and Multi-Level Politics.
Symposium participants include this year's Stein Rokkan Memorial lecturers Liesbet Hooghe and Gary Marks from UNC Chapel Hill, USA/ VU Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and a number of academics from the USA and Europe.
The symposium is funded by the Bergen University Fund, the Department of Comparative Politics, the Småforskmidler, and the organisers’ personal annum.
