Glimpses from the 7th MUHAS scientific conference

More than 500 scientists and students from the host country Tanzania and elsewhere attended the “7th MUHAS Scientific Conference” 27-28 June 2019.

The theme for the conference was “Health Research and Innovation for Sustainable Economic development”

For the first time held on campus, the university was well prepared for the big crowd of attendants. In addition to the main lecture halls, several buildings and outside gardens were in use.

The conference opened with a panel discussion titled From research to local and national impact, opportunities of Muhimbili institutions in shaping the national economic development. The panelists, representing the top health institutions in Dar es Salaam, all came with their take on how health research can lead to innovation and

With scientific sessions, panel discussions, poster presentations and parallel sessions, the conference covered a variety of topics under the main theme.

Complete programme

NORHED

Scientists from University of Bergen, Addis Ababa University and Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Science attached to the NORHED project "Reduction of the burden of injuries and occupational exposures through capacity building in low income countries" participated in the conference. PhD-candidates and graduated masters' students had oral presentations in the parallel session on Occupational Health. In addition, some of them also attended the poster session.
