My research focus is gender in sport communication. The objective of my study is to investigate how the International Olympic Committee, organizer of the Olympics, use their role in media to improves gender equality and women’s empowerment. The IOC formally recognize gender equality as a basic human right of profound importance and initiate social change. With my project, I aim to provide deeper understanding of the role of sport governing body in contribution to gender equality. The objective is to qualitatively explore how the actors can address human rights issues and improve the gender equality and women’s empowerment trough media outlets.
