Internet and telephone

The Norwegian society is highly digitized, with a fast and reliable internet network accessible even in remote places. Private and public services like banking or welfare are mainly accessed online.

Wireless network (WiFi) at the University of Bergen

As an employee you can access Eduroam on campus. Guests at campus can also access the eduroam using a guest log on. Please visit the UiB's IT service pages for information about how to connect to eduroam.

Mobile phone and internet connection at home

If you are staying in Norway for a longer period of time, you may want a Norwegian mobile phone or an internet connection at home. New in Norway offer useful advice and information on how to buy a mobile phone or set up a telephone/internet subscription agreement.

When acquiring a mobile phone, you can either buy a prepaid SIM card, or a set up a mobile phone agreement with monthly payments. Most companies will require that you have a permanent ID-number to set up a phone agreement.
