Election of members to the University Board 2026

Members will be elected for the group of temporary academic staff and for the students.

Announcement

Would you like to run for election to the University Board, or do you know someone who would? Submit your candidate nomination(s)! In accordance with the Universities and University Colleges Act, representatives must be elected every year for Group B (temporary academic staff) and for Group D (Students).

For Group B, candidates will serve for the period August 1, 2026 – July 31, 2027. One member and at least two deputy members will be elected from and among employees in Group B.

The election will take place from 23 to 28 April 2026. The election opens at 09:00 AM on April 23 and closes at 12:00 PM on April 28.

How to nominate candidates for the University Board

  • The nomination must be signed by at least as many proposers as the number of candidates included in the nomination. No individual may sign more than one nomination.
  • The candidates must be eligible and have agreed to stand for election.
  • The nominated candidates need to understand Norwegian.
  • Send your nomination to valgstyret@uib.no by March 3 at 12:00 PM

Who has the right to nominate and vote?

The right to nominate and vote is granted to those who, at the start of the election:

  • Are permanently employd in at least 50 % position, or
  • Are employed or engaged for at least one year in a position of at least 50 %, or
  • Have been continuously employed or engaged for at least one year in a position of at least 50 %.

Students

For students (Group D), the Student Parliament has been delegated responsibility for conducting the election. Information about the election of student representatives to the University Board is available at www.studvalg.no.
