General progress:

December 2023: Having just completed the second round of recruitment of a second Cohort of Scholarship recipients (to commence in January 2023), the N-POC Team at the USP hosted a teaching session for N-POC PhD candidates and other USP Master’s and PhD candidates on qualitative and quantitative research data analysis.

February 2023: In January of 2023, the first Cohort of N-POC Scholarship recipients began their PhD degrees at the University of the South Pacific (USP), followed by a hybrid Induction in February.

January 2022: Although Covid-19 has caused some unfortunate delays, the N-POC Scholarship Programme is nearing its first stage of implementation, which will be a Call for Applications. The call will be widely announced and distributed through the partner institutions and their wider network of organisations in the Pacific region.

UN Decade endorsement:

On World Ocean Day, 8 June 2021, it was announced that N-POC has been endorsed as a Decade Action as part of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development! We are thrilled, and look forward to contributing to the Ocean Decade in the coming years.

Extended project period:

Due to operational delays including travel restrictions caused by COVID-19, the N-POC programme has been granted an extended project period by Norad, now stretching from 2021 to 2025 (thus adding a year to the original project period of 2021-2024).
