Main content

Marc Goñi has joined the Welfare, Labour and Health research group. Marc is hired as Associate Professor at our department and has a PhD from Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He has previously been employed at the University of Vienna and NHH and describes himself as an applied economist with interests in economic history, intergenerational inequality, and family economics. His research includes forays into the persistence in inequalities across generations, inheritance systems, marital assortative matching, fertility, and the consequences of inequality for state-education provision and for human-capital accumulation. A common methodology of all his research is the use of newly assembled micro-level historical databases to empirically test fundamental economic theories. To do so, he uses both reduced form and structural econometric methods.

Upon arriving Marc has stated: “I am very excited to join the Welfare, Labour and Health group. The group has produced excellent research in intergenerational mobility and long-term outcomes of social policies – two topics that match very well my research agenda. I am looking forward to collaborating with the group and with its excellent researchers.”
