On 19th November, the Royal Flemish Academiy of Belgium invitited to a symposium on "The Language of Debate and Communication about Climate Change in Flanders". The broader aim of the colloquium was to raise awareness of the importance of language as a medium in the debate about climate change and climate action, which engages people not only cognitively, but also socially and emotionally. Kjersti Fløttum, project leader of the ongoing CLIMLIFE research project, and Mike S. Schäfer, member of the project's scientific advisory committee, presented their analysis of climate change communication in Flanders, and formulated recommendations for enhanced and more inclusive communication. Both Fløttum and Schäfer were selected as "Thinkers" for the academy's "Thinker's Cycle on 'The Language of Debate and Communication on Climate Change" in 2021.
