The Bergen Summer Research School 2023 was organized 5-15 June, 16 years after it was first established at the University of Bergen.
This year marks 16 years since the international summer research school Bergen Summer Research School (BSRS) started at UiB – around the overarching theme of Global Challenges – an initiative by then vice-rector Kjersti Fløttum and Asun St. Clair, together with administrative coordinator Howaida Faisal Abdelraman (still an important asset to the summer school).
BSRS has had an incredibly exciting development, and professor Kjersti Fløttum has held severalt lectures over the years and organised courses, also together with associate professor Øyvind Gjerstad (UiB), professor Helge Drange (UiB) and professor Trine Dahl(NHH).
This year's edition was led by professor Ingunn M.S. Engebretsen (UiB). Professor Kjersti Fløttum lectured on the course "Childhood learning on democratic practices and attitudes to sustainability", organized by professor Kjellrun Hiis Hauge (HVL) and with doctoral students from 8 different countries.
The summer school will be back next year with the overall theme "Education 2030 and beyond" led by professor Erlend Eidsvik (HVL). Again in collaboration with the following institutions in Bergen: UiB, HVL, NHH, CMI and Norce.
