The Bergen Myasthenia Gravis Research Group (BMG group)

Main content

Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disorder that leads to muscle weakness. Immunosuppressive treatment is usually effective. Prevalence of MG is 15 per 100 000. A large cohort of MG patients is treated at our hospital department.

The MG research group co-operates with all the research groups at the Department of Neurology, and also widely with research groups in basic medicine, clinical medicine and epidemiology at the Bergen Medical Research Campus. We have produced 80 scientific publications on MG during the last 10 years.

The group is funded by the University of Bergen, Helse Bergen, Helse Vest, the Norwegian Muscle Association and the Norwegian Research Council.
