Short description of project:
History matching reservoir models with observations is important in order to understand how CO2 flows in the reservoir, and thus be able to predict where CO2 will flow in the future, both in Utsira and other storage locations. In this thesis we have investigated some of the causes of the discrepancies between simulations and observations. Also we calculated and studied the CO2/water contact in relation to the topography. The simulation model based on the finite element method and is compiled using a commercial software. We have also emphasized the importance of using a significantly fine mesh.
