Mål og innhald
This is a project based module with a focus on specific artistic methods. In an experimental process a given MATERIALITY is explored.
Presentations and discussions form the discursive part, on the basis of which each student investigates materials, structures and/or form, leading up to individual and/or group presentations of the resulting artwork(s).
Extended focus and insight into contemporary art and its use of materiality and sensorial experience.
Through the development of an individual and/or a group project the student will aquire experimental techniques and experience of how materialities might be experienced and shaped.
Knowledge and Skills:
- A deeper understanding of the relation between art and matter. Extended experience with various structures and formats.
- In-depth experimental practical knowledge from the development of artistic projects.
- to challange and develop its own artistic practice in relation to different material structures.

This module requires admission to the Master's Programme in Fine Art. Students who have passed the module PRO201, cannot register for this module.

Materialized Knowledge/Illusion of Form is an exchange project in collaboration with The Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts in Pozna¿, Poland with:
Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen, professor in performance
Frans Jacobi, professor in timebased art
Chloe Lewis, associate professor in sculpture/installation
First mobility: 9.-20.10.22
The first mobility gathers students and teachers from both institutions in Poznan on a 10 day residency at The Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts from October 9th to 20th 2022. A common course, engages the students in various workshops with contributions by teachers from both Bergen and Poznan.
Second mobility: 28.11.-7.12.22
The second mobility gathers students and teachers in Bergen on a similar 10 day residency at the
Art Academy / KMD in Bergen from November 28th to December 7th, further developing the collaboration between the students from both institutions, now in collaboration with workshops at KMD.
Each mobility is set-up for 15 students from KMD collaborating with 15 students from
The Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts. Included are experimental artistic work
with performance in public space, sculpture, hologram-workshop, sound-art and green-screen-techniques.
Travel-costs and accommodation are provided by the project Illusion of Form.
