Abstract

The advent of single-cell RNA sequencing techniques has marked a significant turning point in our understanding of blood vessels. It has revealed that endothelial cells exhibit distinct organ-specific gene expression patterns. Furthermore, alterations in gene expression align with the arterio-venous axis and reflect various physiological and pathological states, including permeability, angiogenesis, and inflammatory activation. I will discuss how these insights have revolutionized our understanding of blood vessels and their functions. I will also illustrate how this knowledge transforms our experimental approaches to uncovering the complexities of vascular biology.
