How to write a competitive CV for non-academic audience?
A CV gives an overview of your formal competence, as well as your experience and skills. When you are applying for a job, it is important to focus on relevant skills and competence from your entire background of experience. In addition, it must be written in a language that the employer understands.
Main content
Employers in both the public and private sectors want employees with a broad range of skills. It is the job of the applicants to explain why their experience and skills are not only relevant, but desirable for the employer.
Writing a CV is therefore not just a listing of everything you have in terms of education and work experience. A CV should show that you have the right combination of skills needed to carry out the tasks described in the position.
The course is designed for early-stage researchers who are curious about sector mobility.
Take a draft of your CV with you (paper or digital), for the greatest learning outcome. For more in-depth learning, you can send a job position or ad to ellen.hagen@uib.no before the course.
