At the Institute, we have research activity within the fields meteorology, oceanography and climate.

Main content

We have four research groups:

One in meteorology, one in climate dynamics and two in oceanography - chemical and physical oceanography. More information about the different groups are found on the respective homepages below.

Meteorology

We work on a further understanding of atmospheric processes on different space and time scales.

Physical Oceanography

The physical oceanography research group conducts research on key processes and their interactions in the ocean and aims at understanding the functioning of marine systems on different time and spatial scales.

Biogeochemistry

Biogeochemistry is the science of processes that control the chemical structure and composition of the natural environment in the Earth’s surface reservoirs and also the transport rates of matter between them.

Climate Dynamics

Our main focus is the the role of feedback mechanisms between sea ice, oceans and the atmosphere
