Lab-IT at the Department of Chemistry
Lab-IT is a UiB service to offer network, storage/backup and remote access for equipment used in research at UiB. Several instrument laboratories at the institute use this.
Main content
Below is an overview of the instrument laboratories that use Lab-IT. Contact administrator to gain access. "Terminal Servers" is the server used for remote control, while "area" is the server where data is made available.
| Lab | Administrator | Terminal server | Area |
| Absorption | Pascal DC Dietzel | iodine.uib.no | \\klient.uib.no\FELLES\LAB-IT\KJ\ABSORPTION |
| GC | Zakieh Izakian | zinc.uib.no | \\klient.uib.no\FELLES\LAB-IT\KJ\GC |
| HPLC | Zakieh Izakian | osmium.uib.no | \\klient.uib.no\FELLES\LAB-IT\KJ\HPLC |
| IR | Egil Nodland | copper.uib.no | \\klient.uib.no\FELLES\LAB-IT\KJ\IR |
| MS | Bjarte Holmelid | lead.uib.no | \\klient.uib.no\FELLES\LAB-IT\KJ\MS |
| NMR | Jarl Underhaug | radon.uib.no | \\klient.uib.no\FELLES\LAB-IT\KJ\NMR |
| XRD | Pascal DC Dietzel | my.splashtop.eu | \\klient.uib.no\FELLES\LAB-IT\KJ\XRD |
Note that all users have access to all data on the site, and most users only have read access.
At hjelp.uib.no you will find more information, including how you can connect to the storage area for Lab-IT. If you use several areas, it may be advantageous to enter "\\klient.uib.no\FELLES\LAB-IT\KJ" instead of all the individual areas.
To access the storage area, you must either
- be connected to the UiB network via VPN
- be connected to the Wi‑Fi network uib‑klient
- be connected to a wired network at UiB.
NMR
Under the NMR area there are six folders:
- Felles: Diverse felles dokumenter
- lnmr600010: 600 MHz
- lnmrcen011: 500 MHz wide-bore
- lnmr850neo: 850 MHz
- nanalysis: 60 MHz
- lnmr850011: 850 MHz, old computer
- lnmrrut010: retired instrument
If you record sensitive data, you should use non-descriptive names or store the data temporarily in the folder c:\Users\nmrdata_nobackup before encrypting and moving it to the server.
Remote control is reserved for expert users who have reserved the 850 MHz spectrometer and a small number of 600 MHz users.
