Parlo Singh Workshop: Research as a Common ‘Object’ in Cooperation Between Schools and Researchers/Research Institutions

Tuesday 10th of September 10:15-12:00, Christiesgate 13, 3rd Floor, SLATE

Main content

Research as a Common ‘Object’ in Cooperation Between Schools and Researchers/Research Institutions

Aim

Recognising the complex relationship between methods and theory as well as between research and governance, the idea of knowledge and knowledge production is up for discussion. Knowledge assumes different roles and definitions in research, policy and educational practice.  The workshop aims to discuss experiences with knowledge production in projects aimed at understanding, developing and improving educational practice. In particular, it will address challenges and affordances in project cooperation between schools and researchers/research institutions, when research is a ‘common object’.

This may include posing questions related to the theory-method nexus, to what constitutes data, what are the relations between researcher (subject) and researched (object of research), and how is this shifting and why? What are the possibilities of different paradigms of research: action research, design-based research, research collaboratories - what does the research problem, research relations, theory-method nexus, data, representation/performativity look like under these different frames?

The workshop aims to discuss theoretical/methodological as well as practical/ethical issues and challenges.
