Main content

The course looks at Hinduism, its history as well as the contemporary situation and investigates the plurality of Hindu traditions and problematizes ways of understanding this plurality. The goal of the course is to understand how different traditions in South Asia have influenced each other in numerous ways to give shape to the religious culture of the subcontinent. The focus is in particular on traditions of pilgrimage and salvific space, Yoga, rituals, traditions of goddess worship, and on the social context of Hinduism.
