Main content

We are pleased to have one of the authors of the book “Proportionality - Medicine, Law, Philosophy, and Pandemic” with us at this Pandemic Breakfast (Norwegian only).

Professor Anna Nylund from the Faculty of Law, UiB, will present the book, which was published at the very beginning of 2025.

The book explains the principle of proportionality in health crises. With a particular focus on crisis management during the COVID-19 pandemic, the book provides an introduction to legal and medical principles as well as reflections on how authorities handle the principle of proportionality. The book’s six sections cover how the principle is used in philosophy, law, and medicine, and how it can help balance societal interests with individual rights during crises.
