The event was organized by IF’s research group for Contemporary Russia in cooperation with the German programme, and was dedicated to the issues of history politics and memory culture in Post-Soviet Russia and reunited Germany. Invited guests Ekaterina Makhotina (University of Bonn) and Frank Thomas Grub (University of Uppsala) presented papers on how the two countries have dealt with their highly conflicted past. A panel discussion between the presenters, Birger Solheim from IF’s German programme and Ingunn Lunde together with Kåre Johan Mjør from the Russian section, helped shed light on what the fall of the wall means today, 30 years on.
