Registrybased studies of familial risks

Prevention of health problems in children and adolescents

In this project we study health problems in children and adolescents in Bergen, and how these health problems can be prevented, based on data from the Medical Birth Registry of Norway, health clinics and school health services.

Main content

Health clinics and school health services in Bergen have implemented electronic health records which can serve as a basis for research on the prevalence of health problems, their causes and prevention. From 2010 onwards all relevant health data are registered. Each age group includes about 3200 children.

The aim is monitor health and to contribute to evidence-based preventive health services for children. Special emphasis is on breastfeeding, weight development, caries, and asthma and atopic syndrome.
