The Religion of Karl Ove Knausgaard
UiB Literature & Religion hosts a roundtable
Main content
The UiB Literature & Religion Research Group wishes to remind you that you are all welcome to this roundtable on “The Religion of Karl Ove Knausgaard”.
The conversation will take place on 26 August 2019 at Seminarrom 1, Øysteinsgate 3 (AHKR), 10.15-13.00, and will be followed by an informal lunch at Café Opera.
The group of scholars that are visiting us has written the following presentation of their project:
We are a group of seven readers of the work of Karl Ove Knausgaard (six Americans and one Norwegian) who have sought to understand that work as--in a very broad sense--religious. Coming from different fields, humanistic and social scientific, with different approaches to religion, we have spent now almost five years meeting annually to discuss his novels. Short writings by each of the seven of us can be forwarded. We offer these as a stimulus to a first conversation beyond our group. We look forward to the discussion.
Courtney Bender (Columbia University)
Jeremy Biles (School of the Art Institute of Chicago)
Liane Carlson (New York University)
Joshua Dubler (Rochester University)
Cooper Harriss (Indiana University)
Erik Thorstensen (OsloMet)
Winnifred Sullivan (Indiana University)”
LitRel has specifically invited Kjersti Aarstein (UiB) and Dirk Johannsen (UiO) to participate in the conversation, and we hope that many of our LitRel members and UiB colleagues would like to join in.
Please send an e-mail to Sissel.undheim@uib.no if you wish to attend the roundtable and/or lunch at Café Opera, and I will forward the short writings from the group.
