Short description of the project:
The main goal of this thesis is to find a simulation of the breathing cycle of a human using MR images over the abdominal area in a fixed time interval. This mostly involves examining image series and finding the boundaries of a lung deforming over time. The deformating lung will be described via the Biot equations. Numerical solution then involves solving forward problems (using the MPSA/MPFA discretization for the Biot equations) and inverse problems (using gradient descent).
