Complaints Concerning Exam Results
After completing an exam and receiving a grade you can ask for an explanation of the result. You can also appeal the grade and receive a new assessment of your exam.
Explanation of Exam Results
You can ask for an explanation of a final grade you have received after assessment at the Faculty of Social Sciences (cp. Law of Universities and University Colleges, Chapter 5, § 5-3).
The aplication deadline is one week after the publication of the result in Studentweb. You ask for an explanation in Studentweb, and you do also see the explanation there.
Oral examinations: If you have an oral exam or evaluation of practical skills, you must request an explanation immediately after you have learned your grade.
Group assignment: Please use the form provided to ask for an explanation of exam results.
Appeal of final grade
You can appeal the final grade you receive in a course without asking for an explanation first.
The appeal deadline is three (3) weeks after the publication of the grade in Studentweb. If you have asked for an explanation of the exam result, the deadline for appeal is three weeks after you have received the explanation. You cannot appeal the results of an oral exam.
Complaint on formal errors at exam
If you feel that the university made formal or procedural errors in carrying out your exam, you can send in a complaint on formal errors. In these cases as well, the deadline for complaints is three weeks after the publication of results (including appeal results).
The complaint must contain a detailed account of the reasons for the complant, including the course name, the date the exam was held, the type of assessment, and your contanct details.
Send the complaint to the Faculty of Social Sciences by letter or email. It is the Central Appeals Committee that handles complaints on formal errors on exams.
