The seminar offers a broad overview of different meanings and concerns attached to the ‘agrarian question’ in classic Marxism, in subsequent world-historical experiences like the ‘peasant question’ in the Russian and Chinese revolutions, through to today’s concerns with the activities of global agribusiness capital, ecological dynamics, food sovereignty, and the revival of notions of the ‘peasant path’ in the agenda of La Via Campesina and others.
