CCBIONeur910: Patient and Public Involvement in Medical and Health Research, 2025
The course aims to inspire increased user participation in research trials and will present methods on how to involve user representatives. This is highly relevant to all biomedical research fields, and Patient and Public Involvement is documented to positively impact the relevance and efficacy in medical research.

Main content
The main objective of the course is to develop the participants’ capacity to assess and convey the value of patient and public involvement in general, as well as promoting productive user involvement in their own research projects.
The course is a collaboration between CCBIO, Neuro-SysMed, REMEDY, NorHEAD, MATRIX, NorCRIN and FORMI, and the project is supported by the Dam Foundation through Nasjonalforeningen for folkehelsen. Nina Jebsen (CCBIO), Kjell-Morten Myhr (Neuro-SysMed) and Tone Skår (Neuro-SysMed and VIS) are academic responsible for the course. Coordinators are Anne Therese Kjellevold Hatle Anne.Hatle@uib.no and Synne Geithus synne.geithus@uib.no from Neuro-SysMed, and PhD candidate Tessa Lohr Tessa.Lohr@uib.no from CCBIO.
The course spans over 3 days (May 7–9, 2025), and will combine plenary discussions and group sessions involving user representatives and patient organizations, with presentations from national and international lecturers.
The primary language will be Norwegian, in order to facilitate communication with the patient representatives.

Available for non-ECTS participation: The course has a limited number of seats, and the non-ECTS participation will be reserved for user-representatives from patient organizations. Registration for non-ECTS participants is available here. Deadline also February 1, 2025. Note that we cannot guarantee a seat in the course until we have reviewed the lists.
In case of very many registrations, we might need to consider the group of participants after the deadline. Students at the CCBIO and Neuro-SysMed research schools will have priority, as will students from the partner organizations. Patient representatives/user organizations are encouraged to register and will be allocated a limited number of seats.
No course fee.
Study points: 2 ECTS.
Language: This course will mainly be held in Norwegian.
