The semester programme Chinese Law Studies with Clinical Placement in China was established in 2016, and had startup in the spring semester 2017. The students who participate combines studies in Beijing or Shanghai with an internship at a Norwegian or Chinese company. The faculty is the first legal institution in Norway to offers such a programme.

Included in the semester programme is a 60-hour introductory course in Chinese language and culture, developed by the Confucius Institute in Bergen. The course ends with a language test in February, before the students travel to China in March. In China the students will take four to five law courses equivalent to 20 credits at law schools in either Shanghai or Beijing.

The internship will have a duration of five weeks (25 days), and gives ten credits. This provides the students with valuable work experience in an international environment, and the students will experience how the law works in practice.
