Software Carpentry

D-Lab offers Software Carpentry courses.

Main content

Software Carpentry aims to help researchers get their work done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic research computing skills.

Software Carpentry is an inclusive concept for teaching programming to novices, targeted to researchers. The curriculum covers automatisation of tasks with Unix Shell, one programming language that is well suited for data analysis and visualization (Python or R), and version control with Git. A typical course is two full days or 4-5 half days.
