Copyright - how to use images in research and assignments

The course is an introduction to copyright for photographs, based on available sources at UiB. How to find pictures, how to get permission and understand privacy - is shown through examples of common issues that arise in image research and in daily use of images. This course is primarily grounded on UiB's own sources at the Picture Collection, and will also provide examples of external sources.

 

Program

13:00-14:00

1- How to use an archive: intro to the Picture Collection, use of images from the collections.

2- Copyright in everyday life: examples that show the common scenarios. From privacy to legal image theft.

3- Image search in practice: tips for using archives and databases, available resources at UiB, how to work with copyright, source criticism.

4- Questions.
