Green Public Procurement is considered an important tool in the work towards a more environmentally sustainable economy. The seminar gives an introduction to Green Public Procurement in light of the EU´s directives on public procurement, which regulate how public contracting authorities purchase goods and services. It starts with a brief presentation the general system for public procurement in the directives. It then explains what is meant by Green Public Procurement, how the directives facilitate this and the limitations the directives place on contracting authorities’ opportunities to make environmental considerations when they carry out procurement procedures.
