Choir

KORFUH is a mixed choir for university and college staff, comprising approximately 30 members.

Main content

Established in 2001, KORFUH began as a staff choir at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL). Shortly thereafter, employees from the University of Bergen and the Norwegian School of Economics were invited to join. Since then, the choir has maintained a balanced membership from both HVL and the University of Bergen, with around 30 active singers.
The choir is conducted by Trine Daviknes.

Over the years, KORFUH has performed numerous concerts both nationally and internationally. A highlight of the year is the annual Christmas concert, traditionally held in one of the city’s churches. This event is often organised in collaboration with other choirs and features contributions from professional guest musicians. The choir also regularly participates in joint events hosted by the Norwegian Choir Association, Hordaland chapter.

KORFUH has undertaken several international tours, including performances in Krakow, Edinburgh, Riga and Barcelona—often in cooperation with local partner institutions.

Rehearsals take place every Tuesday from 16:30 to 18:30 at HVL’s premises on the Kronstad Campus. Music students frequently collaborate with the choir—gaining experience as conductors or participating in joint concerts and choral cafés.

Singing in a choir is enriching, uplifting and social—and is also beneficial to one’s health. After a long day, choir members often find that singing together gives them renewed energy and joy.

The fact that members pay a membership fee of NOK 1,500 per semester to attend weekly rehearsals speaks volumes about how much this choir means to them.
