The researchers set up their labs: Lise Øvreås is responsible for the microbiology work and Eric Olson is responsible for the chemical testing of sea water as we search for new venting areas.

After loading we went out into the harbour for some sea tests. We also went through the GOSars safety course, including trying on survival suits and climbing into the lifeboat. The ROV worked fine in the tests, but the GOSars had an engine malfunction and we had to be towed closer to shore for repairs!!
