Main content

At CGB we are now doing in situ measurements of microbial sulfate reduction.

We do cold single-step chromium reduction and destillation of sulphur species. In this destillation both the acid volatile sulfide compounds as well as the chromium reducilble sulfide compounds are analysed.

The method makes it possible to separte and detect extremely small amounts of radiolabeled reduced sulfur species for the determination of very low sulfate reduction rates (SRR) with the carrier-free 35SO4 radiotracer.

The facility was approved by the HSE department at University of Bergen in February 2013.
