Medical statistics guidance service autumn 2025
The guidance service at the Departement of Global Public Health and Primary Care is part of the Core Facility for Biostatistics and Data Analysis at the Faculty of Medicine. It is primarily directed towards researchers employed at the faculty. Researchers can contact the guidance service to discuss the design of studies, choice of statistical methods, and the use of software.
Main content
The guidance service has expertise particularly related to data analysis for epidemiological and clinical research projects. Planning the study design and data collection is crucial for the quality of subsequent statistical analyses, and we encourage you to contact us in the early stages of a project.
Tasks performed by the guidance service are expected to be of a short-term nature and typically within the framework of a one-hour consultation. The guidance service does not require payment for consultations.
The Core Facility for Biostatistics and Data Analysis can also offer ongoing statistical support for larger projects and research groups. However, this is not part of the guidance service's work and will require payment. Please contact Jannicke Igland for more information if there is a need for more prolonged support from a statistician in research projects.
The service can provide assistance and guidance for master's theses if the main supervisor contacts and is present during the guidance.
The service does not have the capacity to help with other types of student assignments, such as theses for medical students.
Consultations/meetings with the guidance service should preferably take place on Thursdays between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Meetings should be arranged in advance by phone or email with the person responsible for the respective week.
