Courses for new international employees

UiB offers three courses for new international employees to learn about UiB services, UiB as employer and Norwegian working culture.
Step 1: Online e-learning course which give you a short introduction to UiB, the services that are available to you as well as your employee rights.
Step 2: Introduction course either classroom course or digital course. This course is offered two times each semester. We recommend you to follow the next available course as close to your start date. topics covered in the course are:
- Welcome to UiB
- About the International Centre
- Norwegian culture
- Your rights and obligations (absence, holiday, safety delegates, trade unions etc.)
- National services (national insurance, pension, taxes, health services etc.)
- Practical information (language courses, UiB courses, mobility, travel, activities etc.)

Step 3: Culture training course will help you crack the hidden codes of Norwegian workplaces and social life. It will explain some traits of Norwegian workplace culture and you will learn how to deal with the lack of clarity that may be prevalent. There will be typical scenarios where cultural differences come to the surface for reflection and discussion. This course is suitable for employees who has worked 2-3 months in Norway.
