Webinar on AI and digital learning, health, and defense
Professor Jonathan Haidt, social psychologist and author of The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness, which has sold over one million copies, sheds light on the “great rewiring of childhood”—a shift from a play-based upbringing to one dominated by mobile devices. Haidt is actively advocating for reforms to counter the negative effects that young people's digital lifestyles can have on mental health, physical inactivity, and learning. In Norway, physician Charlotte Lunde has also raised awareness about this issue. During this webinar, Haidt and Lunde will give presentations and participate in a panel discussion on this important topic.

Keynote
The webinar will be centered around two books: The Anxious Generation – How the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness by Jonathan Haidt, and Play and Learning from a Neuroscience Perspective (Lek og læring i et nevroperspektiv) by Charlotte Lunde.
It will explore multiple perspectives and discourses on childhood and adolescence in an increasingly digital society (with accompanying video). There is growing concern about how algorithm-driven technological exposure has affected Generation Z in various ways. A contemporary analysis and more research are needed to better understand this complex field in the age of AI. Jonathan Haidt and Charlotte Lunde will address some of the key discourses and challenges in this domain.
We hope that researchers, policymakers, school leaders, teachers, healthcare professionals, journalists, students, parents, and others will take part in this timely webinar on one of the most pressing issues of our time: the impact of digitalization on children and youth during their formative years.
