We want to contribute to the understanding the regulation of the dopamine synthesis pathway within the context of ADHD and other neuropsychiatric disorders, notably by investigating the function, stability and pharmacological regulation of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH). TH is the rate limiting enzyme in the synthesis of catecholamine neurotransmitters.

Using an interdisciplinary and translational approach -integrating experimental and computational methods - we explore structural, functional and energetic aspects of the interaction of TH with small drug-likeĀ  compounds, other proteins and membranes. With our special interest on TH we aim to develop novel therapeutic options for correction of associated metabolic and neurological malfunctions such as ADHD.
