Trial lecture and defense for Thomas Mountjoy

Thomas Mountjoy is going to present his trial lecture, Thursday 17 January and is to conduct the public defense of his Ph.D. thesis Friday 18 January.

TRIAL LECTURE:

Thomas Mountjoy, Master in Social Anthropology, Dept. of social anthropology, will hold his trial lecture for the PhD degree on the following theme:


"
How would one develop an analysis informed by phenomenological theory of the relationships among the body, sport, and nationalism, in ways that consider both ethnographic theories of Melanesian personhood and the problem of scale?"

DEFENSE:

The title of thesis is:


"The experience of citizenship and nationhood through sporting practice in Solomon Islands"
