Alfarah and Balter will have two separate presentations:

1) "Empowering Refugee Teachers with Low Tech During COVID-19".

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the educational challenges faced by refugee communities in Jordan and Lebanon were amplified, with outdated resources and traditional teaching methods falling short.

Mirey Alfarah will discuss how leveraging low tech solutions during the pandemic has empowered teachers to create more dynamic and student-centered learning environments. She will present real-world examples from the field, designed during the pandemic and still in use today.

Mirey Alfarah is an educational developer and holds a PhD in education with over 15 years of experience in the public and non-profit sectors. She currently works as a postdoctoral researcher in university pedagogy on the FREMFARM project and leads the newly funded Erasmus+ project FPD-Include.

2) Exploring the use of COVID-19 pandemic resources in Norway’s Ukrainian refugee crisis response

Leah Balter is a Fulbright research grantee from the United States working at the Pandemic Centre. She received her bachelor's degree in Human Biology from Stanford University.
