National tests

National tests in English for pupils at 5th and 8th grade.

The main purpose of the National Tests is to give schools insight into pupils' basic capabilities in reading, mathematics and English. The information provided by these tests can form the basis of continuous assessment and quality assurance at all levels of the school system. https://www.udir.no/eksamen-og-prover/prover/nasjonale-prover/om-nasjonale-prover/

The National Tests of English are taken each autumn by pupils at the fifth and eighth grades. They are developed by language test team the Institute for Foreign Languages at UiB.

The tests are digital and measure the pupils' reading skills, including vocabulary and grammar. A teachers' guide has been developed, which gives advice about how the tests can be used and how to follow up the results with pupils.
