Ecology of Tools

Broadcasting live news demands timely execution of events, and offers little room for failure. To succeed, the broadcast teams rely on specialized tools, showing the important role of technology in live news production. ViSmedia researchers Frode Guribye and Lars Nyre interviewed journalists and photographers at broadcaster TV 2 in Norway about their everyday work practices out in the field. The results are presented in their paper ”The Changing Ecology of Tools for Live News Reporting”, just published in the Journalism Practice journal.
