Prestigious Award to Deborah G. Johnson

Just before she is coming to Norway in March, professor Deborah G. Johnson was selected for yet another prestigous research award. In June 2018, she will get the Covey Award from the International Association for Computing and Philosophy’s Executive Board.

Johnson has published widely in the field of ethical, social, and policy implications of technology.  Her most famous textbook, Computer Ethics, has been translated into multiple languages, and the fourth edition is now for sale. Johnson has taught engineering students at the University of Virginia, Georgia Institute of Technology and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Her current fields of interests are ethics, artificial intelligence, and robots.

At the conference Watching in the Media, University of Bergen March 20 2018, Deborah will give a talk on automating empathy in robots and its implications for humans. Deborah is a Professor II of the ViSmedia project.
