Forskningsgruppen SIPA tar sikte på å utvikle ny kunnskap om hvordan sosiale prosesser påvirker utviklingen av subjektiv helse og helseatferd blant ungdom.

Om forskergruppen
Forskningsgruppen SIPA ved Institutt for helse, mijlø og likeverd (HEMIL) er en tverrfaglig forskningsgruppe. I løpet av de siste tjue årene har gruppen utviklet kompetanse i å bruke og utvikle teorier og metoder for sosial- og utviklingspsykologi, med særlig fokus på ungdoms helse.
Formål og forskningsområder
Forskningsgruppen er en viktig del av flere omfattende nasjonale og internasjonale studier på dette forskningsområdet, og fortsetter å utvikle nye studier basert på erfaringer fra pågående og avsluttede prosjekter.
Med utgangspunkt i den siste utviklingen i sosial kognitiv teori, selvbestemmelsesteorien og utviklingsøkologisk teori, forsker SIPA gruppen på sosiale prosesser knyttet til særlig tre hovedfenomener:
- Ungdoms livsstil, inkludert helseatferd som røyking, alkoholbruk, matvaner og fysisk aktivitet.
- Subjektive helseplager blant unge. Dette inkluderer somatiske symptomer som fatigue, hodepine, magesmerter og ryggsmerter, samt psykiske plager som depressive tendenser, irritabilitet, angst, og søvn forstyrrelser.
- Livskvalitet blant unge, som tilfredshet, energi, stamina, opplevelse av velvære og trivsel, motstandsdyktighet og produktivitet.
For å svare på forskningsspørsmålene blir det benyttet en kombinasjon av (i) nasjonale- og internasjonale representative tverrsnittsundersøkelser, (ii) longitudinelle undersøkelser og (iii) intervensjonsundersøkelser.
